Pigmentation Removal

With pigmentation removal, you may need 1-3 sessions. It all depends on the type of pigmentation that is being removed.

You will need a pigmentation removal session every 4-6 weeks. Similar to hair removal, we would start at 4 weeks and then push it further to 5 weeks, 6 weeks.

At The Laser Co we provide a Cryo Cooler with all our IPL treatments to allow for optimum comfort.

You may feel warmth within the skin whilst the treatment is being carried out, however; the Cryo cooler will take that away. The Cryo cooler will be used to blow cold air on the treatment area pre, post & during the treatment.

The Cryo Cooler can reach a maximum temperature of -40 degrees.

There isn’t any downtime per say, however; you will notice the pigment will go darker after the treatment and crust . This will then naturally fall off.

With pigmentation removal you will see the lesion darken, this is because the pigmented lesion has absorbed the light.

You will see general Erythema which is just redness, this is because we are putting heat into the area to make the treatment effective.

You will see micro-crusting of the lesion which will occur over the following days.

The lesion will eventually ‘flake-off’ to leave an area without excess
pigmentation.

Please note that exposure to sunlight and use of fake
tan will result in recurrence of lesions.

At the minute we can only treat Fitzpatrick Skin Types 1-3 with IPL.
