HOW DOES ACNE TREATMENT WORK?

It has been known for some time that acne is a photo-responsive condition.

Shorter wavelengths have been shown to destroy the Propionobacterium Acnes (P.Acnes) bacteria that cause acne.


Red and Infrared wavelengths directly target the overactive sebaceous glands.

Grade 1 (Mild Acne) - characterised by the smallest form of blackheads which can be felt rather than seen.

Grade 2 (Acne Cosmetica) - characterised by small blackheads or spots which can be caused y every day cosmetics used on the skin.

Grade 3 (Acne Vulgaris) - characterised by blackheads, papules and pustules.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

Typically you will need 6 sessions and tops ups when necessary.

HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED A SESSION?

Typically you will need a session every 2-3 weeks. Therefore, you should see quicker results than chemical peels.

IS ACNE TREATMENTS PAINFUL?

At The Laser Co we provide a Cryo Cooler with all our IPL treatments to allow for optimum comfort.

You may feel warmth within the skin whilst the treatment is being carried out, however; the Cryo cooler will take that away. The Cryo cooler will be used to blow cold air on the treatment area pre, post & during the treatment.

The Cryo Cooler can reach a maximum temperature of -40 degrees.

IS THERE ANY DOWN TIME WITH ACNE TREATMENTS?

There may be a small amount of down time as you may experience slight swelling when treating the cheeks.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS WITH ACNE TREATMENTS?

You will see general Erythema which is just redness, this is because we are putting heat into the area to make the treatment effective.

You may experience slight swelling when having cheeks treated.

Male clients may experience hair loss if there is hair in the area to be treated.

CAN YOU TREAT ALL SKIN TYPES?

At the minute we can only treat Fitzpatrick Skin Types 1-3 with IPL for Acne Treatments.

IS THE PRE/POST AFTERCARE IMPORTANT?
